Include additional information or explanation that will assist in considering your application that may not be reflected in your transcripts, GPA, GRE/other testing scores, resume, etc.Graduate Record Exam (GRE), Miller Analogies Test (MAT), Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), OR Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) scores/proof of completion (input scores into the online application for immediate review with official score sent immediately following) (institution code: 6546). There are two notable exceptions to this requirement:Individuals with a clinical degree (DO, MD, PharmD, DVM, etc) from a US-accredited institution of higher education are exempted from providing graduate exam scores.Individuals transferring to the MPH program from another OSU graduate degree.Individuals applying for the MPH who are currently pursuing another graduate or professional degree with OSU. Three letters of recommendation are strongly recommended, but not required. Individuals will be emailed with a link to complete the recommendation online. If planning to submit letters of recommendation, submit the online application a few weeks prior to the deadline to allow time for recommendations to be submitted.A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred however, applicants with a lower GPA are still considered for admission. The GRE is a standardized examination reflective of an individual’s ability to be successful in a rigorous program of study and is required for admittance to most graduate degree programs worldwide. A combined score of 300 or greater in the written and quantitative sections and 3.5 or greater in the verbal section are preferred however, applicants with scores lower are still considered. Each section of the GRE is weighted equally. The field of public health is a corner stone of community service and outreach. Related experience serving rural populations or otherwise addressing needs for underserved populations is preferred. Related experience does not have to be within the field of public health but may demonstrate dedication to a topic or populations, skills in leadership, etc. Personal StatementIf required, an official TOEFL score of 79 (internet based test) or 550 (paper based test) is required to be submitted. Alternatively, an official IELTS, academic stream, examination with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 will satisfy the English proficiency requirements for admission to a graduate program. Either examination must have been taken within the last two years. The MPH program requires a minimum score of 90 on the internet based TOEFL (minimum subscales: 26 speaking, 22 reading, and 24 writing) or 6.5 on the IELTS. Note that submission of an internet based TOEFL score may be necessary if employment as a graduate teaching assistant/associate is desired. Please refer to departmental information/website for any such requirements for employment as a teaching assistant/associate.
